The Staircase of the King of Aragon
The Staircase of the King of Aragon in Bonifacio, classified as a historical monument and a picturesque site of Corsica was, according to its legend, dug by hand into the limestone cliff in one night by the troops of the King of Aragon in 1420. In reality, this staircase was dug to access the Saint-Barthélemy well, a fresh water well. Today, the well is no longer in use and is closed.

– The Church of Saint Dominique, classified as a historical monument in 1862, is the only Gothic style building in Corsica!
– The Church of Saint Mary Major is the oldest in Bonifacio, it is characterized by its Romanesque architecture.
-The Church of Saint John the Baptist, of pure Catholic tradition, is the seat of the Brotherhood of Mercy.
-The Church of Saint Erasmus is the only one located on the port. Of neo-Byzantine style, it houses the brotherhood of fishermen and people of the sea.
-The Holy Cross Church is famous for what it is said to hold: a fragment of the true Cross of Christ.
– The Chapel of Saint Roch, built in 1528 on the spot where the last victim of the Plague died. This chapel is also called the “Patron Saint of plague patients”. This beautiful building overlooks the cliffs of Bonifacio, offering an exceptional view.
