La Poudrière - Scalu Tower

La Poudrière - Scalu Tower

The powder magazine known as the Tour du Scalu, located on today’s Place de la Mairie and restored in 2012, was built in the 17th century as the Tour des Fabiani. It was once a salt warehouse, then a powder magazine and finally a prison.

Here we are at the quiet southern edge of the Agriates Desert. The N1197 road brings its stream of bathers to the Ostriconi beach at the end of the cove.
