9 miles northeast of Ile Rousse, this cove, also known as Porajola or Parajola, is bordered by a beautiful beach to the south of a Genoese tower and a whitish cliff.
The shelter is good for southerly to easterly winds, but exposed to westerly winds. A river flows south of the beach, creating semi-swampy areas behind the sandbar.

Here we are at the quiet southern edge of the Agriates Desert. The N1197 road brings its stream of bathers to the Ostriconi beach at the end of the cove.

According to legend, the Escalier du Roy d’Aragon in Bonifacio, a listed historic monument and Corsican landmark, was carved out of the limestone cliff in one night by the troops of the King of Aragon in 1420. In fact, this staircase was actually dug to access the Saint-Barthélemy freshwater well. Today, the well is no longer in use and is closed.

Location details

Giunchetu or Giuncheto or Ghjunchetu is a fair-weather anchorage south of Ile Rousse. The neighbouring bay of Vignola is also a pleasant bay in fine weather.
Be careful around the edges.

For fans of underwater life, the rocks between the beaches of Giunchetu and Bodri are teeming with life just a few centimetres below the surface!

Location details

Algajola (or Algaghjola) was for a long time an advanced Genoese position in front of Calvi. The 1st habitats correspond to the prehistoric and protohistoric sites of Tepina-Cocani and the Mount Saint Joseph site.

The site is very picturesque, but you have to anchor at a distance and without much protection.
